Rescuers in constant use – Serious skiing accidents left several people injured

Blue skies and fantastic temperatures: Many locals and tourists across Tyrol also took advantage of the wonderful January weather for skiing on Thursday. For several winter sports enthusiasts, however, the beautiful day ended in the hospital.

There were two serious skiing accidents on the Wiedersbergerhorn in the municipality of Alpach on Thursday afternoon. At around 1:45 p.m., a 47-year-old German and a previously unknown man crashed into each other with their skis. “While the skier appears to have remained uninjured, the 47-year-old suffered an injury to her upper arm,” the police said. The woman was given first aid by the piste rescue team and taken to the district hospital in Kufstein. Girls crashed into each other. Just over an hour later, the piste rescuers were called upon again. There was a collision between two German girls (12 and 13). While the 12-year-old remained uninjured, the 13-year-old sustained significant injuries and, after receiving initial care, was flown to the hospital in Schwaz by emergency helicopter. Holidaymaker seriously injured in the knee. Almost at the same time, a skiing accident occurred in the Sölden ski area between a 48-year-old German woman and a previously unknown skier. “The woman was skiing around 50 meters above the mountain station of the “Mini-Giggi drag lift” when a 10-year-old boy touched the woman,” said the executive. The holidaymaker fell and suffered a serious knee injury. The young skier apologized to the woman but then continued his journey. The 48-year-old was brought to the valley by the piste rescue team after receiving first aid.
