Almost a month after the appointment of Gabriel Attal as Prime Minister, the government is finally complete. The list of delegated ministers was revealed this Thursday evening. A list which gives pride of place to elected officials from the left wing of Macronie. During an interview, the Prime Minister also assured that he had respected territorial diversity.

After several days of rumors, the composition of the new government was revealed this Thursday. In total, 20 new appointments, including several reappointments of delegate ministers or secretaries of state to their positions. After François Bayrou’s bloodshed on Wednesday evening, the number of ministers from MoDem was scrutinized. They will ultimately be four to make up the government, as before.

In detail, Jean-Noël Barrot is appointed Minister Delegate for Europe, Sarah El Haïry for Children and Families and Marina Ferrari for Digital. All come to support the Minister of Agriculture Marc Fesneau. Another expected element: the balance of the majority. Because if the January nominations tipped the scales to the right, this time, the left wing is more represented. The former socialist Nicole Belloubet is appointed to Education, Patrice Vergriete to Transport while Fadila Khattabi retains her state secretariat for disabled people.

Territorial diversity

Finally, while François Bayrou criticized the government for being too Île-de-France, Gabriel Attal responded to him on Thursday evening on France 2. “There is a very large plurality of territories. There are urban elected officials, suburban elected officials. So, there is a very large territorial representation and two thirds of them are locally elected or have been. This provides an anchor with the field and the concerns of the French”, estimates the Prime Minister.

The first council of ministers of this new completed government will take place next Wednesday.
