Resident Evil 4: for the remake, Capcom wanted to redo a chainsaw controller

In the genre of official derivatives, Capcom hit hard with Resident Evil 4 when it was released on PlayStation 2. The Japanese studio had offered a chainsaw-shaped joystick to accompany its survival horrorin reference to this terrible decapitating enemy Leon S.Kennedy using this tool.

Well, the idea was fun, but it was very difficult to have fun with this improbably shaped controller. And yet, Capcom considered re-offering a similar accessory when the Resident Evil 4 remake releases next month. Unfortunately, the studio did not have the resources to design this new controller. In an interview given to Game InformerYasuhiro Ampo (RE2 Remake) and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi (the RE4 original) stated:

We wanted to do one, but we put everything we have into developing the game. Maybe we can see that another time, if there’s an opportunity.

To play Resident Evil 4, version 2023, you will therefore have to settle for a more traditional controller, or a keyboard and mouse. As a reminder, the release date of the remake is set for March 24, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 5, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S, you can pre-order it against €53.99 on Gamesplanet.
