Franchise resident Evil of Capcom is cult, it has inspired many horror games over the years, but some fans prefer to stay in this universe by indulging in the development of unofficial remakes. This is the case of Matt Croft, Briins Croft and DarkNemesisUmbrella who worked on remakes of Resident Evil and Resident Evil Code: Veronica.
But lo and behold, what had to happen happened, the small team was contacted by Capcomasking them to stop the development of these two titles, while RE Code: Veronica was supposed to arrive in early access in the next weeks. What disappoint the young studio, but also the fans, even if such an outcome was inevitable. The developers indeed reuse elements of the games of Capcomincluding the 3D model of Claire Redfield in RE 2 Remakeand make money on it through donations, which is to say that it obviously did not go down well with the Japanese studio, despite being aware of the project since its debut last year. Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake and Resident Evil Re-Remake will therefore not see the light of day.
Some players recall that Resident Evil 2 remake by Invader Games suffered the same fateand at the time, Capcom had had a more delicate approach with the studio, going so far as to organize meetings between them, but the Japanese studio was working on an official remake of the survival horror in the police station Raccoon City. Moreover, this unofficial remake turned into Daymare: 1998a new license strongly inspired by D. Does this mean that we will finally be entitled to a real remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica? Not sureMatt Croft, Briins Croft and DarkNemesisUmbrella explain that Capcom probably wanted to see if the project interested people with this unofficial remake before canceling it, but recently the producer of Resident Evil 4 Remake Yoshiaki Hirabayashi affirmed that nothing was planned concerning this opus, much less popular than the numbered shutters (and yet much better than some).
Officially, fans can therefore wait for this remake of Resident Evil 4which is set to release on March 24, 2023 on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, you can pre-order it for €53.99 on Gamesplanet.
