In 2002, “Resident Evil,” the first film in the science fiction action horror film series, was released and was made with director Paul WS Anderson. The third part, “Resident Evil: Extinction”, was released in 2007 and deals with the consequences of the viral infection that affected almost 99 percent of the world’s population and was triggered by the Umbrella Corporation. Like Carlos, Claire and Nurse Betty, Alice is one of the few survivors and tries to defend herself in the fight against the zombies.

The fourth part of the action-horror series, “Resident Evil: Afterlife,” followed in 2010 and was directed by director Paul WS Anderson. In addition to leading actress Milla Jovovich as Alice, the cast also includes Ali Larter (“The Rookie”, “Final Destination”) as Claire Redfield, Wentworth Miller (“Prison Break”) as Chris Redfield and Shawn Roberts as Albert Wesker.

The escape from the infected zombies continues excitingly for Alice and the rest of her crew as they try to escape to Los Angeles. But they don’t seem safe there either and Alice ultimately has to face the powerful Umbrella Corporation and the dangerous virus.

“Resident Evil: Retribution” from 2012 is the fifth part of the “Resident Evil” series and is about the zombie apocalypse that was spread across the world by a dangerous virus. Alice wakes up on the Umbrella Corporation research site and begins to remember her past. Nevertheless, she doesn’t completely trust these revelations and wants to find out the truth.

In it, Alice has regained her superpowers and is preparing for a final battle against the zombie apocalypse. Together with the other survivors in Raccoon City, she tries to prevent the extinction of all humanity.

With “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City,” a reboot of the well-known action horror film series was released in 2021 and is therefore not a continuation of the previous parts. The new video game adaptation begins in the 80s and shows how the Umbrella Corporation establishes itself in Raccoon City and exploits orphans as objects of temptation.

While Claire Redfield (Kaya Scodelario, “Skins”, “Maze Runner”) is able to escape from these experiments, she has to leave her brother Chris (Robbie Amell, “Upload”) behind when she escapes. Years later, after the pharmaceutical company withdrew from the city, Claire begins to investigate what happened earlier.

She returns to the scene and meets her brother Chris. At first he doesn’t believe her and describes her memories as “conspiracy theories”. Only when a zombie plague hits Raccoon City do the two stick together to survive.

In 2022, “Resident Evil” was the first horror series to be released on the streaming service Netflix. The plot takes place between 2022 and 2036 and revolves around the twin sisters Billie (Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph) and Jade Wesker (Tamara Smart, Ella Balinska).

Their father Albert Wesker had begun research into the T-virus for the Umbrella Corporation in the past until a global outbreak occurred in 2036. As a result, all but 300 million people became zombies. Jade Wesker tries to research a solution and take action against the powerful pharmaceutical company.
