Resident fell asleep – flash fire in kitchen fire devastated apartment

A Syrian (25) wanted to fight burning fat in a pan in his kitchen with a fire extinguisher on Tuesday. The result was a flash of fire, and the fire brigade quickly came to the man’s aid.

On Tuesday at 5 p.m., a 25-year-old Syrian in his rented apartment in Wörgl prepared croquettes on the stove in a pot with hot fat and then took them out of the pot. He then switched off the stove, went into the living room with the finished croquettes, ate a few of them and fell asleep for a moment. Fire brigade with heavy respiratory protection After about 10 minutes he noticed a fire in the kitchen. He tried to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher, which resulted in a flash of fire. The alarmed Wörgl fire brigade entered the apartment with heavy respiratory protection and was able to bring the fire under control and extinguish it after a short time. The kitchen of the apartment was completely destroyed by the fire. The other living rooms, as well as the neighboring apartments were smoked, but are habitable. People were not harmed. The damage caused is unknown. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. The Wörgl fire brigade was deployed with 5 vehicles and around 30 men.
