Xavi Hernandez will remain FC Barcelona coach for at least another year. The 44-year-old agreed to this with senior management on Wednesday evening. The club confirmed consistent reports from Spanish media.

The agreement comes a week after the elimination in the Champions League against PSG and a few days after the 2:3 in the Clasico against Real Madrid, which probably wiped out the Blaugrana’s last chances of defending their title in LaLiga.

The former player took over Barcelona in 2021 and led the club to the championship the previous season. At the end of January, despite a contract until 2025, he announced his departure after the current season.
