Resuscitation unsuccessful – farmer thrown from tractor in crash – dead

A terrible drama occurred on Saturday afternoon in the Tyrolean Fügenberg (Schwaz district)! A 61-year-old farmer fell over a meadow while working in the fields with a tractor and was thrown from the vehicle. For him any help came too late.

The fatal accident occurred around 3 p.m. in the municipality of Fügenberg. There, the 61-year-old local worked a field with four helpers and drove the tractor vehicle along a forest road. At the level of Gasthof Schellenberg he then came off the gravel road for reasons that are still unclear, whereupon the tractor fell around 50 meters over a steep field. Resuscitation unsuccessful. The driver was thrown out of the cabin and remained lying around ten meters above the wreckage. The rescue workers requested began resuscitation measures, but these were unsuccessful. The 61-year-old died at the scene of the accident. The police are now investigating to clarify the exact cause of the accident. In addition to the officers, 50 emergency services from the Fügen and Schlitters fire departments, mountain rescue and crisis intervention were on site, as well as rescue and emergency doctors with helicopters.
