Retirement: how to become a nanny a few hours a week? : Current Woman Le MAG

After forty-one years as a maintenance worker at the hospital, Nicole ended up with 1,150 euros of monthly retirement in 2015. Not really enough to indulge in little pleasures or spoil her granddaughters! In 2016, this 60-year-old from Avignon, who also wanted to find a social life, became a babysitter by registering with a Family Sphere agency. "Since then, I have worked for twenty families. I take care of children after school or nursery, I make them dinner, I help them with homework … And I round off my pension by 100 at 400 euros per month ", she enthuses. Are you tempted by the experience? Here are the keys to finding regular or punctual missions, and to stay in good standing with the taxman and the pension fund.

Find a family

A quick note on the display panel of the nearest school or nursery remains very effective in finding "clients". You can also publish a free ad on a site dedicated to seniors (seniorsavotreservice.com or lestalentsdalphonse.com, for example) or to childcare (like nounou-top.fr or bebe-nounou.com). For occasional baby-sittings, ring the neighbors, or if you are addicted to the smartphone, download the free Baby Sittor app (payment in cash or by bank transfer). Do you prefer not to look for a family yourself? Contact a provider specializing in childcare, such as Family Sphere (more than 100 agencies).

Stay in good standing with the taxman

The salary varies according to the region, the profile and the type of care (occasional or regular). At a minimum, we perceive the hourly minimum wage (10.15 euros gross in 2020, or approximately 8 euros net), but for occasional live calls, we can request up to 10 euros net (15 euros for assistance to homework). The easiest way is to get paid via the Cesu or Pajemploi devices. If you work for a service provider like Family Sphere, he will pay you on behalf of families. In all three cases, the income will be pre-filled in the following annual return, and the tax will be deducted at source.

Combining a job with your pension

– Without activity but not yet retired, Reworking as a nanny allows you to validate a few more quarters (in 2020, you must collect at least 1,522.50 euros in the year to validate one).

– Already retired? If you have claimed your full benefits after 62, you can combine salary and pension without limit. But if you left earlier or without the full rate, your combined employment and retirement income is capped until the automatic age of the full rate (65 to 67 years, depending on your generation). For ex-employees, the sum of income and pensions cannot exceed the average salary for the last three months of activity (or 1.6 times the minimum wage if more favorable). In the general public, the ceiling rises to one third of the gross annual pension, increased by 7,095 euros; for the liberals, to the PASS (annual social security ceiling), or 41,136 euros in 2020; and for ex-craftsmen and traders, at the PASS or at half of it depending on the place of residence. Beyond that, retirement is reduced by the amount of the excess. Please note, since 2015, contributions deducted from wages after the keel no longer open additional rights!

– Do you perceive a reversion? It can no longer be modified three months after your personal retirement date (basic and complementary retirement), even if you work again (reversion is "crystallized"). Please note, if you are not entitled to a personal pension, the "crystallization" of your reversion occurs on the first day of the month following that on which you would have reached the legal retirement age. If you rework before this date, you must inform your fund, and your reversion will be reduced if your overall annual income exceeds 21,112 euros (33,779 euros if you live as a couple).

Advice from the expert

"By going through a service provider, a new family can be immediately proposed to you at the end of a mission (or in case of lack of affinities). You are also certain to be covered by insurance in the event of incident during journeys or at the parents' home, and benefit, if you wish, from professional training in early childhood professions.
