Retro Games, in collaboration with Plaion, announces the return to stores of the Atari 400, in a new form.

After (re)discovering the legendary Atari 2600 at the end of last year, players will once again be able to travel to the past (in 1979), with the official release of a new “Mini” version of the Atari 400. This new mini-console will be accompanied by a modernized version of the Atari CX40 joystick, and promises to reconnect with the sensations of yesteryear.

A reduced version of the Atari 400…

Like the Super Nintendo Mini and other Mega Drive Minis, THE400 Mini (that’s its name) is intended to be a reduced (50%) and modern version of the original machine. THE400 Mini will also be responsible for emulating the entire Atari 8-bit range, from the 400 to the 800XL, as well as the Atari 5200 home console.

Obviously, The400 Mini will offer a selection of 25 integrated games, including Berzerk, Boulder Dash, Capture the Flag, Lee, Millipede, Miner 2049er, Missile Command, MULE or Star Raiders II. The machine, powered by USB, will also allow games to be saved.

… but not only !

We think collectors and retro gaming enthusiasts will like what we’ve done! During their trip, they can take the time to discover the few Easter Eggs present in games from the 70s and 80s said Paul Andrews, Managing Director of Retro Games Ltd.

Note that players will also be able to import their own games from a USB key (THE400 Mini will offer 5 USB ports), and that the machine will connect directly via HDMI to your Smart TV.

The designers promise that no compromises have been made from the look and feel of the original Atari 400, from the hard-to-match colors of the original machine to the authentic textures of the plastic case and keyboard. membrane.
