A new stormy session at the National Assembly this Thursday evening. On the occasion of the parliamentary niche of La France insoumise, the deputy Caroline Fiat presented a bill in favor of the reintegration of caregivers not vaccinated against Covid-19, and the debates were particularly agitated, marked by the invective of the centrist deputy of the Liot group, Olivier Serva, “You’re going to close it”, launched at the address of Renaissance deputies who challenged him during his speech.

In reality, the rebellious deputies accuse the majority of filibustering.
250 amendments tabled by the majority
The LFI deputies seemed on the point of having their own bill adopted. The Republicans were for it, as were the Nupes and the National Rally. The Renaissance group saw it for its part as an “antivax and conspiratorial” proposal. After the return to the session at 9.30 p.m., and seeing that a defeat was looming, the majority tabled more than 250 sub-amendments to prevent a vote from taking place before midnight, and therefore before the end of the niche, this special parliamentary session which allows a group, here La France insoumise, to set the agenda.
“It is undoubtedly the first time in the Fifth Republic that a government lends itself to obstructive work to prevent the National Assembly from continuing its mission”, reacted Olivier Marleix, the president of the LR group to the hemicycle, before the words dropped by the deputy of Guadeloupe Olivier Serva. The session was then suspended, and the atmosphere remained electric until midnight. In the end, the vote did not take place.

The rapporteur for the text, Caroline Fiat, did not hide her anger. “During a parliamentary niche, when the text is stopped at midnight, it says ‘suspended’. We will not let you go,” she warned. The rebellious deputy therefore promises to put her bill back on the agenda soon, which she considers to be in the majority in the hemicycle.
Sanction requested against Serva
The Renaissance deputies will demand a sanction against Olivier Serva confirming information from Figaro. The elected ultramarine, who denounced the techniques used to slow down the debates, then denounced “small subterfuges”. “You smear democracy with your baseness, you are in the minority, accept it”, had launched the deputy.
