REVIEW Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, can the new movie top the excellent Fallout?

Each production of the license tries to raise the bar a notch with each shutter. How far can this constant one-upmanship go? It is clear that the new realization of Christopher McQuarrie is up to our expectations. The enemy of this opus is simply terrifying, he will push Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) in his last entrenchments…

A threat unmatched in the history of mankind.

A fairly complex scenario, which asks the viewer not to let go of the thread. Suffice to say that if you go to the toilets during certain dialogue scenes, you risk not understanding anything when you come back. This is also one of the downsides of the film, many narration sequences are scattered during the 2h46 projection. They are more or less necessary to fully understand the ins and outs of the plot, but this may tire action aficionados. Still, the fine team of Hunt will become again snap, the only way to counter the final boss. Many factions will seek to outdo him, whoever masters the weapon that everyone covets will become almost invincible. Not to mention that the weapon itself is the protagonist in the game!

As said in a line from the feature film, it’s a game of chess where the opponent knows all the moves in advance. Ethan and his friends are constantly taken aback by events, which makes for as delectable scenes as possible. Where the protagonist thinks he has the upper hand, he is in fact totally manipulated by his rivals. Once is not custom, it is the character of Grace (Hayley Atwell) who serves as the centerpiece of this chessboard. It is she who will disrupt the game throughout the story. Her unpredictable side comes to confuse the tracks, while she has no experience in the world of espionage. Again, his sequences are a good slice of fun. The car chase in Rome (which you can see the making of here) is certainly one of the best.

Mission Impossible 7 Dead Reckoning – Part 1One of the trailers also referenced the past ofEthan Hunt, an aspect of the scenario that is quite opaque in this first part. It is to be hoped that this part of the story will be more detailed in the sequel, which will not be released before June 28, 2024, because it will allow us to discover how Hunt joined the program Impossible mission. For now, we have to be content with‘a cold and uncontrolled revenge on the part ofEthanwhere the character of Gabriel (played by Esai Morales) takes malicious pleasure in taunting and surpassing him. The latter is accompanied by the French Pom Klementieff, playing Paris in the film, which embodies a more subtle character than it seems…

But then what is this mysterious weapon after which everyone is running? It is a revelation that spoiler not, knowing that we learn it in the first minutes of the film (you may have already guessed it, by the way…). However, if you don’t want to know anything, skip to the next paragraph. It’s still interesting to talk about it, because it structures the whole scenario. Not to mention that it’s a topic that has been fueling our conversations lately: conscious artificial intelligence. What could be more powerful than an entity with access to all the information of our civilization. Autonomous and unscrupulous, she is ready to do anything to accomplish her mission. Able to hide in the smallest electronic component, Ethan and his team are dealing with the worst enemy ever faced. What’s most intriguing about all of this is that we don’t know what her target is and if she’s as evil asEthan thinks…

Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 The Greatest Stunt in Movie History

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 maintains the usual quality level of the license, but not without flaws. Beyond a few dialogue scenes that drag on, the technical aspect of the film is also to be pinpointed. The production suffered and it shows regularly in the film. Some green screen footage is eye-catching, it scratches the show. However, it is acceptable to us, as the rest is pure pleasure. The script is pretty well put together, the stunts still memorable and the actors are on top. At the arrival we can’t wait to see the second partwhich promises to be rich in revelations, both in terms of the plot of this opus, and on the mysterious past ofEthan Hunt himself. That alone is motivating, right?
