revolutionary novelties, it’s unheard of

The Silent Hill Ascension interactive animation series unveils exciting new details. You will have to have strong nerves to follow the episodes live.

Firmly awaited by an army of fans, the franchise silent Hill will soon be making a comeback. After several years of wanderings, doubts and rumours, we now know that Konami is planning multiple projects around the license in the months to come. Between the highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake or the mysterious Silent Hill fthere will be plenty to do for the players.

The license will even go beyond the borders of video games with a new film named Return to Silent Hillan adaptation of the second episode directed by Christopher Gans scheduled for 2024. The most intriguing project remains all the same Silent Hill: Ascent, the interactive animated series in which the audience’s choices will impact the unfolding of the story. Fortunately, Genvid Entertainment, which produces the show (and which collaborates with Bad Robot Games and Behavior), finally gives us news of its mysterious project.

Silent Hill Ascension says more, it looks confusing

On YouTube, Genvid Entertainment released a new video in which those involved in the creation of the interactive animation series Silent Hill: Ascent give us many crisp details. Stephan Bugaj, creative director, reminds us of the particularly ambitious concept imagined by the production studio.

We take the fundamentals of the Telltale games or Netflix’s Bandersnatch, for example. All users will interact with the series at the same time. They will influence a canon story that they will experience simultaneously. The decisions made are canon for everyone, you will not be able to go back.

Following the episodes of the series live will therefore be important to make the most of the experience, but not necessarily. Stephan Bugaj explains that the decisions will be “open” for a while, potentially a day or a week, so as not to exclude those who were not there live. It’s hard to know how Genvid will go about it. We can imagine that only the end of episode choices will be affected by the mechanics mentioned by the creative director.

In all cases, Silent Hill Climb promises to be quite revolutionary in its genre. In reality, it is unheard of on this scale. Interactive series exist, you can even find them on Netflix for example, but these programs do not appeal to an entire audience simultaneously, where Ascent involves all its viewers.

A series that plans to make us suffer

There promise of Silent Hill: Ascension is to take that of games that depict how someone’s individual trauma and issues can become threats and monsters that hurt you “, explains Shiaw-Ling Lai, director of production. With the series, Genvid Entertainment wants to show how these traumas can impact not only the person themselves, but also those around them and even an entire community in a wider environment.

By presenting characters who are disturbed, torn, Silent Hill: Ascent also wants to bring the public to become attached to them and to give birth to an unwavering desire to help them, to save them from their traumas. The monsters created by bad robot Productions will illustrate the feelings that upset the protagonists, “violence, domination and obsession”.

This is enough to know much more about what awaits us in the series, but also to see that it really should not spare us. Beyond that, Genvid Entertainment indicates that the roadmaps of Silent Hill: Ascent will be revealed on stage at San Diego Comic-Con 2023 on Friday, July 21 at 11:30 a.m. Big announcements are to be expected regarding the long-awaited interactive program, of which we do not know the release date or the broadcasting platform.
