Rhône: a woman arrested after strangling a 6-year-old child in the middle of the street

In Oullins (Rhône), a woman was arrested on Thursday January 27 for having strangled a 6-year-old child in the middle of the street. Investigators took ten days to find her.

The woman, in her thirties, would have acted “without any apparent reason”, according to the Sûreté du Rhône.

The facts took place on January 19, place Roger-Salengro in this town located near Lyon. As a little boy was walking down the street with his parents, the woman lunged at him, wrapping her arms around his neck to give him a chokehold.

Investigators said the woman was alcoholic at the time. The young boy was slightly injured and received two days of ITT (Temporary Incapacity for Work) equivalent. His family filed a complaint.

While in police custody, the alleged attacker said she did not remember the facts because of her drunkenness.

She was presented this Friday, January 28 to the prosecution, for a judgment in immediate appearance for willful violence on a child.
