A heavy fire broke out on the evening of March 8 in a building on rue de l’Égalité, in Amplepuis. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
Around 20 firefighter vehicles were on site around 11 p.m., and around 50 firefighters were mobilized. They fought all night and managed to bring the fire under control after several hours. This Wednesday morning, another fifteen firefighters are on site for building surveillance operations.
Risk of collapse averted, six people evacuated
The disaster did not cause any casualties because the six inhabitants of the three-storey building, which is located in the center of the village, were all able to leave the premises after being warned by passers-by.
If there was a risk of the building collapsing at the start of the fire, the latter was ruled out by the firefighters. “There is no threat to the shell of the building,” the firefighters tell us.
A handover with the services of the town hall will be done in the morning at the end of the intervention of the firefighters.
