Hollywood star Richard Gere had to be treated in a hospital in Mexico. The reason: pneumonia.

Hollywood superstar Richard Gere (73) had to be hospitalized with pneumonia. As the US portal “TMZ” reports, Gere is currently on family vacation in Mexico. He was already slightly ill before the trip, but then had severe coughing fits and admitted himself to a clinic. There the pneumonia was diagnosed and treated in the hospital overnight. According to sources, the actor has since been released and is now undergoing a course of antibiotics. He’s doing “much better” again.

The ‘Pretty Woman’ star is currently with his wife Alejandra near the beach resort of Nuevo Vallarta to celebrate his partner’s 40th birthday there. The two have been together since 2014 and married in 2018. The two have two sons together. Alejandra even posted a picture on her Instagram account with her two children from the beach and alluded to Gere’s illness in her comment: “Thanks for all the birthday wishes. After almost three weeks in which everyone in our family was sick, I’m finally feeling much better today!” In an Instagram story, you can even see Gere taking a walk.
