is ready to enter the Chinese automobile market as a first step.

And this is not a 100% electric model, but a hybrid vehicle.

This Thursday, December 23, Richard Yu, head of the Consumer Business Group and Intelligent Automotive Solution BU at Huawei, announced the upcoming release of the all new Aito M5. And this is not a smartphone or tablet model, which would already be more logical for Huawei, but a car. And if it is not called “Huawei”, it is because it was developed in collaboration with Seres, a Californian manufacturer and subsidiary of Chinese Sokon. His name, Aito, is an acronym meaning ” Adding Intelligence to Auto “.

In terms of specifications, it is in particular the native installation of HarmonyOS within the vehicle that is the main news, the operating system having been developed by Huawei after its inability to use Android from 2019.

Three Aito M5 finishes will be available from February 20, 2022 to the Chinese public. The standard version will cost 250,000 yuan, or 34,710 euros, the Performance version, equipped with four-wheel drive, will cost 280,000 yuan, or 38,874 euros, and the high-end version, also equipped. four-wheel drive, will be on pre-sale at 320,000 yuan, or 44,427 euros. The latter has been on display since December 23, while the first test drive is scheduled for January 20, 2022.

A vehicle with high-end services

In terms of the capacities of these vehicles, the announced autonomy is 1000 km (battery = fuel tank) with a 0 to 100 km / h announced in just 4.4 seconds. The battery, with a capacity of 40 kW, can be recharged from 20 to 80% in just 45 minutes with the 7 kW fast charge, or in five hours on a standard connection. As for the tank, its capacity is 56 liters.

Moreover, Huawei does not stop at HarmonyOS and offers in particular an L2 + level driving assistant, start-up using a Bluetooth key, 3D facial recognition, automatic connection via Huawei ID, an update in time. real internal GPS, or real-time detection of the level of driver fatigue. A 15.9-inch central HDR display is also planned, as is high-end audio that can reach a peak of 1200 watts.
