The German e-bike manufacturer Riese & Müller presents a universal e-bike with the Charger4. The equipment also includes the RX chip, which turns the pedelec into a connected e-bike.

You can usually tell by looking at the e-bikes from Riese & Müller that they are not a bargain. This also applies to the Charger4, which costs around 5,000 euros. For us, a clear e-bike highlight of 2022.

As usual with the German manufacturer, the Charger 4 can also be heavily customized. All variants are revved up by a Bosch Performance Line CX mid-engine. The Kiox 300 display is located on the handlebars and is operated using the convenient LED remote control at the end of the handlebars. Braking is done with the help of hydraulic disc brakes from Magura.

The basic variant, called “Touring”, which costs just under 5,000 euros, has an 11-speed derailleur from Shimano. The higher-priced variants “Vario” (from 5,450 euros), “GT Touring” (from 5,400 euros) and “GT Vario” (from 5,750 euros) are optionally available with a belt drive and continuously variable hub gears.

RX chip for digital services

Anyone who likes digital books the RX chip and service package. Then the e-bike from Riese & Müller will become a “connected e-bike”. This includes a location function via GPS, the recording and processing of driving statistics and other functions via app.

The e-bike innovation is now available from Riese and Müller. Prices start at 5,099 euros for the Charger4 Touring and end at 5,749 euros for the Charger4 GT Vario. All variants can be further configured and adjusted. For example, front luggage racks or the “GX option” are available, which includes all-terrain tires.
