Because of the attack on the US Parliament early last year, members of the “Proud Boys” are said to have to answer to further allegations in court. A court in the capital Washington on Monday also charged five members of the far-right group with seditious conspiracy.
Among them is their former leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio. The new indictment follows an amendment to the existing indictment filed against the five men in March this year.
Up to 20 years imprisonment possible
On January 6, 2021, supporters of Republican President Donald Trump, who had already been voted out, stormed the seat of the US Congress in Washington. Five people died and dozens were injured. The attack on the heart of US democracy shook the country.
