The much-feared rise in electricity prices in February can be compensated or almost compensated by changing the offer or supplier. Clubic has spotted two attractive offers for you, which could save you tens of euros each year.
Behind the articles you read, there are real humans, who like you, consume electricity and pay their bill. Like you, they wonder, we wonder if it is possible to stem, in one way or another, the exorbitant rise in electricity prices, moreover due to the explosion of tax which sees two-thirds of its tax shield destroyed.
These will undoubtedly increase more, for many consumers, than what the government announces (between 8 and 10%). We then did a little test, allowing us to find two particularly interesting offers from EDF, but not only that. Stay with us until the end of the article.
The EDF Tempo offer, a significant saving guaranteed, if your accommodation is recent
To provide a more realistic side to our demonstration, I took the trouble to download my consumption data for the year 2023, from the EDF website. I then integrated them into an open source tool, an electricity subscription comparator that you can all try (the link is at the bottom of the article), which allows you to “ know which rate would have been the cheapest without changing your consumption “. We were not disappointed ! Note that I have a Green Electric subscription with a power of 9 kVA and the off-peak hours option.
Without much dispute, this is the offer EDF Tempo which would allow us to make the most savings. From 840 euros of electricity paid in 2023, I could drop to 736.32 euros by switching to this offer from the supplier. That’s a saving of 12.4%, which can be even greater depending on your energy management! Enough to compensate for the price increase expected in February 2024. As a reminder, the EDF Tempo offer operates according to a calendar of blue, white or red days.
- For blue days (300 days/year), you save 42% during off-peak hours and 44% during peak hours compared to the regulated rate.
- For white days (43 days), you save up to 32% during off-peak hours, up to 33% during peak hours.
- For red days (22 days), the busiest of the year when you will be encouraged to reduce your consumption, prices during peak hours are three times higher, and you save up to 27% during off-peak hours.
Obviously, this is all very theoretical. For this to work, it is better that your accommodation is recent, which is my case, and it is especially better to avoid living in a thermal sieve. You would lose out. You should keep in mind that peak and off-peak hours under Tempo will increase just as much, or even a little more (between 3 and 22% compared to 10 to 13% for peak and off-peak hours) than the others.
The Zen Flex offer, lighter economy, but more security
A second offer caught our attention, still from EDF: the subscription Zen Flex, launched just a few months ago. The offer Zen Flex is based on the same principle as the Tempo offer, but in fact, it remains different. In my simulation, I drop from 840 euros over one year to 785 euros in the Zen Flex offer, an honest saving of 6.55%.
- You benefit from 345 Eco days per year: the price per kWh is 20% cheaper during off-peak hours than the regulated rate. And above all, you benefit from 17 off-peak hours every day.
- There are 20 so-called “Sobriety” days left per year. Located on the calendar between October 15 and April 15, you will be asked to reduce your consumption. Because during peak hours, the price of electricity will be three times more expensive.
In addition, this offer can be doubly beneficial to you, since bonus days will be added throughout the year, allowing you to reduce the bill a little more if you consume less energy during peak hours on some of the Eco days. . For us, this offer is less restrictive and more secure than the previous one, even if taken full advantage, it will save you a little less money than the Tempo offer.
Don’t neglect other suppliers, the proof!
In our simulation, we were pleasantly surprised to see that two offers from OHM Énergie, a French alternative supplier born in 2018, occupied second and third positions, among the offers allowing us to achieve the greatest savings.
- With the “Maxi Eco HC” offer (-21% on the price per kWh compared to the regulated rate, but rate subject to change with 30 days’ notice), we would have saved 100 euros, or 11.9% on our bill. 2023.
At the foot of the podium, we find an offer from TotalEnergies, which is also rather interesting, since it is based on the principle of a blocked price.
- The “Fixed Standard Electricity” offer with off-peak hours guarantees a fixed subscription and kWh price for one year. In other words, if the electricity rate increases, your bill will not change. This offer would have saved us 73 euros, or 8.7% compared to our current EDF offer.
