Lauterbach wants to reopen vaccination centers
The number of infections is increasing rapidly, but the vaccination centers have been closed for a few weeks. Although the immunization quota is lame, SPD politician Lauterbach is hoping for a revival. The centers have to be opened again quickly, especially for the elderly.
In the fight against the corona pandemic, the SPD health politician Karl Lauterbach wishes to re-establish the vaccination centers, which are often closed. The vaccinations are progressing far too slowly to break the soaring fourth wave of the pandemic, he wrote on Twitter. “We need quick vaccinations for the elderly. The ideal would be to reopen the vaccination centers.”
The number of people vaccinated is only increasing slowly. A booster vaccination against the effects that diminish over time is noticed by far fewer people than could. This is especially recommended for risk groups. Politicians are desperately looking for concepts to encourage more people to do so.
The regional vaccination centers were set up last winter when vaccinations started. The background to this was the need for strong cooling of the initially scarce vaccines and strict priority for vulnerable population groups. At times there were more than 400 vaccination centers. The federal and state governments had agreed to reduce or close them by September 30th at the latest. Most countries switched to mobile vaccination teams. In addition, doctors’ practices also vaccinate, but there are fewer again.
Situation worse than a year ago
However, it is not certain whether political activism would increase the vaccination rate among previously unvaccinated people. A Forsa survey by the Federal Ministry of Health on Thursday came to the conclusion that the vast majority of unvaccinated people will no longer be convinced of immunization against the coronavirus. According to this, two thirds (65 percent) of the approximately 3,000 respondents said that they “under no circumstances” would be vaccinated in the next two months. 23 percent tended to “rather no”.
Corona infections are currently on the rise again – and even earlier than a year ago: The concern of renewed emergencies in the clinics is therefore becoming increasingly louder. In the morning, the outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel warned against carelessness in dealing with the corona pandemic.
