Road-Light Clic-Light V2: the connected guardian angel who watches over two-wheelers

Road-Light has made it its mission to protect users of two-wheelers, whether they are cyclists, scooters, scooters or motorcycles. This connected light signal box, installed on a harness, allows you to be visible in all weathers.

All users of a two-wheeler, whether motorized or not, will tell you: on the road, it is necessary to be seen by other users. Today, the elements of safety go a lot through the wearing of technical clothing and a helmet, all incorporating reflective strips.

Road-Light, a Toulouse start-up created in 2017, focused on the safety of two-wheelers and this is how a first system called Clic-Light was born. It was a connected light block with flashing lights accompanied by a remote control. It was then enough for the motorcyclist to put on the harness supporting the box over his jacket via a harness. After scouring the CES and other fairs, Road-Light has meanwhile improved its system.

Thus was born the Clic-Light V2, unveiled at CES in Las Vegas in January 2022. The use is now extended to cyclists, but also to scooters, monowheels and longboards with wheels, via a separate mode.

First change, the design of the light box has been revised with softer curves at the corners. One of the main changes concerns the carrying direction of the Clic-Light. Indeed, the Auto Reverse System function allows the indicators to indicate the right or the left regardless of how the Clic-Light is put on. On the other hand, the system cannot be worn in ventral mode.

The case (220 g) attaches to the harness (198 g) thanks to the presence on both parts of a large surface of self-adhesive. Thus, there is no risk that the case will come off. Moreover, its reduced dimensions (20 cm wide, 10 cm high and 1.7 cm deep) mean that the Clic-Light can be easily stored in a backpack.

By bike, scooter or monowheel

The remote control is not installed in the same way depending on whether you are on a bicycle or on a motorcycle. In the first scenario, a cradle fixed to the handlebar can accommodate the remote control (7 cm wide, 3.8 cm high and 2 cm thick) in a horizontal position only.

As a result, it takes up quite a bit of space. Once positioned, the remote control is operated via two buttons, one on the right, the other on the left. Thus, the cyclist can activate the flashing function, the position lights, but also trigger the hazard lights.

By motorbike or scooter

In the case of motorcycle or scooter use, the remote control takes place under the saddle at the rear, where it connects via a specific eight-wire cable (supplied) to the signaling system of said motorcycle. The installation can be carried out by a mechanic or yourself, Road-Light providing an instructional video.

As soon as you activate the brakes, the indicators or the hazard warning lights control, the Clic-Light acts as a repeater by amplifying the light signal. The position light of the box is activated as soon as the ignition of the motorcycle is switched on.

On the visibility side, Road-Light ensures that its luminous (and waterproof) case remains visible up to 400 m and that the power of the LEDs adapts to the ambient light thanks to the integrated Adapt Light function. Finally, the box, whose autonomy is announced for 10 hours of use with the position light activated continuously, is recharged via a USB-C cable also provided.

The Clic Light V2 is already marketed at a price of 129 €.
