The arrest was preceded by investigations lasting several months, as the canton police in Vaud announced. The arrested are five French nationals aged between 31 and 42. The investigators were able to identify the men based on the fingerprints found, technical examinations and research into their surroundings.
You are suspected of having robbed a money transporter in Daillens together with other people in early December 2019. The hooded and heavily armed criminals set three vehicles on fire and escaped with stolen cars. The loot consisted of cash, watches, gold bars and precious stones.
This attack was one of several of its kind on Vaud soil. Between 2017 and 2019 there were further attacks with the same pattern in La Sarraz (August 2019), Mont-sur-Lausanne (June 2019), Chavornay (February 2018) and Nyon (May 2017).
The perpetrators blocked the street with stolen vehicles, threatened the couriers with firearms and blew up the delivery truck to get the money. The robbers then shot at the vehicles before they fled to neighboring France.
After the series of attacks, the canton of Vaud reacted and took security measures. Money can only be transported in heavy armored vehicles. The amount of money was limited to ten million francs.
