Robert Atzorn: He definitely doesn't want to be in front of a camera again

Robert Atzorn rules out a comeback on TV. Here he reveals how his wife fared when he left acting.

Robert Atzorn (75) became a crowd favorite with "Our Teacher Doctor Specht", investigated as a commissioner in "Tatort" and in "Nord Nord Mord" before he retired from acting in 2017. He cannot imagine returning to the camera, as Atzorn, who is now publishing his autobiography "Showering and brushing your teeth – What really counts in life" (Eden Books), says in an interview with spot on news: "No way! I don't anymore. Readings and now appearances on the book are enough for me. "

Atzorn's son Jens is also a very busy actor. Does the father give him feedback? "Sometimes. Very seldom he asks me for advice if he is not sure about a role. But I am very proud of my sons, who are now both over 40. They are established men, real men at eye level, who face me . "

Family constellation helped him

Atzorn himself had a difficult relationship with his father, as he tells in the book. A family constellation helped the actor. After that, a lot has changed for him: "I felt understanding for my father," he explains. "I suddenly saw what he went through and how deep these experiences were during the war. The difficult thing for the post-war generation is to bear this trauma of their parents. The war was hardly talked about, be it out of a feeling of guilt, grief or despair . And the children received little sympathy because their parents' feelings had been killed off. Otherwise one would not have been able to survive this war time. "

"When you later notice," the 75-year-old continues, "that your own life is being affected by it, you get curious. And the family constellation has solved a lot for me. For example, I always had big ones Afraid of men because my father was so strict and authoritarian. It's all gone. "

"It was a change"

Atzorn has been married for 45 years. How has your relationship with his wife changed since he quit acting? "It wasn't that easy for Angelika," he says. "After all, she always had her freedom when I was away. Now I'm always there. It's a change. There was no argument, but it was a change. She really misses her trips to visit me on filming locations . She came to Sylt or Berlin, for example, and then we had a nice weekend together. "

In addition, Atzorn explains: "It suddenly became clear to us that our last phase of life has come, and that makes time very precious to us. It can no longer be denied that the arc of life is tilting. That is why we enjoy life and mostly stay here and now."

And what is Robert Atzorn like as a grandfather? "Angelika and I are very loving with the grandchildren. We love them more than anything and see them often. But if they have slept with us twice in a row – they get up at half past five in the morning – then we have to recover."
