Robert Downey Jr. again as Iron Man? Marvel boss Kevin Feige speaks plainly.

Despite his heroic death in “Avengers: Endgame”: Rumors and hopes continue to arise about a return of Iron Man and his actor Robert Downey Jr. (58). After all, death is relative in comic book movies. But Marvel boss Kevin Feige (50) has once again put a stop to these hopes. In an interview with Variety magazine, the head of the Marvel Cinematic Universe categorically ruled out a comeback for the actor.

“We will capture this moment and not touch it again,” said Feige about the film death of Tony Stark aka Iron Man. “We have all worked very hard for many years to achieve this goal and we would never want to magically undo it,” the Marvel president continued.

However, Robert Downey Jr. aka Tony Stark briefly came back from the dead on set. According to Kevin Feige, after his tearful last day of filming, the star had to show up for reshoots.

Last had also “Variety” fueled speculation about a comeback for Iron Man. Marvel, which has fallen into crisis, is reportedly planning to bring the original Avengers back together in the event that the next films flop just like “The Marvels” did.

Feige had to fight for Downey as Iron Man

Kevin Feige further revealed to Variety that he had to fight hard to get Downey cast as Tony Stark. After all, the actor was previously notorious as a scandal noodle. Even after overcoming his drug addiction in the mid-2000s, Downey wasn’t exactly known as a box office draw.

But Feige and director Jon Favreau (57) prevailed against the financiers and cast Robert Downey Jr. in “Iron Man”. The film formed the cornerstone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
