Robert Durst, businessman and murderer, died aged 78

Businessman and real estate developer Robert Durst died Monday January 10 at the age of 78, reports People magazine. He had started to be talked about in the 1980s, then suspected of the murder of his wife, before being convicted of other crimes.

He had been sentenced to life imprisonment for several months. American businessman and real estate developer who inherited his father’s business, Robert Durst died Monday January 10 at the age of 78, the magazine reports People. Mr Durst died early this morning while in California Corrections custodyone of his attorneys, Chip Lewis, told the outlet in a statement. “We understand his death was due to natural causes associated with a litany of medical issues that we had repeatedly reported to the court over the past two years.”, is it thus underlined.

At New York Times, it was specified that Robert Durst had succumbed to cardiac arrest at a medical facility in Stockton, Calif., and could not be resuscitated. With the death of the criminal, one of the murder cases that has shaken the United States the most in recent years is extinguished, leaving a blur concerning the disappearance of Kathleen McCormack in the 1980s. Son of the real estate developer and billionaire Seymour Durst, Robert inherited the business of this one, before tragically speaking about him in 1982, when his wife, to whom he had married in 1973, suddenly disappears. They were then in the process of divorce, requested by Kathleen McCormack for facts of domestic violence.

An alleged murder still unsolved

Suspected of being at the origin of the disappearance of his wife, Robert Durst is then heard several times by the police. In December 2000, he was again suspected of murdering Susan Berman, her best friend and daughter of a Las Vegas mafia boss, found dead at the age of 55, shot to the head as she was due to testify as part of the disappearance investigation by Kathleen McCormack. The prosecutor then demanded the arrest of the businessman, suspected of having murdered her because she knew too much about the disappearance of his first wife, whose remains have never been found. It was last October that Robert Durst was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for the murder of Susan Berman. Two months later he was charged with the alleged death of his first wife, Kathleen, who is still being investigated despite the death of her husband.
