AI, color images and a more practical tablet on the program

For this, the robot is equipped with five cameras producing images now in color. This equipment could help him map the environment in 3D and capture nuances more subtly.
Spot also has an NVIDIA Jetson Xavier NX module, powered by a six-core ARM processor and a dedicated GPU, which allows it to process AI faster. It is also equipped with 5GE, which will make data sharing easier. The Rajant Kinetic Mesh Radio Kit, which includes three self-contained mesh radios, will allow him to create a connection area of up to 60,000 m2 approximately.
The robot controllers will also be spoiled with a new 8-inch Samsung tablet, with 8 hours of battery life. Users of the articulated Spot Arm, which allows them to grab or lift items, will be equipped with a more practical tablet that can include a joystick and buttons.
A $75,000 robot
The robot officially went on sale two years ago in the United States for “commercial and industrial” use (hence the high selling price). The new features introduced recently essentially improve the user experience.
Spot should mainly be dedicated to surveillance missions. The robot could go to places that are hostile to humans, such as radioactive zones, or even places of natural disaster. It could help to search for human beings for example. For the rest, Boston Dynamics should unveil new utilities as new features are added.
