Over the years, we have had no choice but to adapt our scoring protocol, in order to test new devices as well as possible. These flooding the market, the competition is fierce. To stand out from each other, manufacturers rely on ever more advanced robots, incorporating cutting-edge technologies.

Lately, it’s the ability of robot vacuums to handle obstacles that has taken a leap forward. Sensors are more sensitive, cameras sharper, laser rangefinders more advanced and artificial intelligence has made its appearance. This tasty mix makes vacuum cleaners intelligent devices that can detect traps that come their way.

In our laboratory, this test phase consists of strewing the path of the robot with more or less imposing, more or less identifiable obstacles. Cables, bottles, rags, screwdrivers: it’s all there. But do not be fooled, this protocol is no longer up to new technologies.
