PC monitors come in several models with varying capacities. Some focus solely on responsiveness, while others focus on image quality. Recently, a new type of screen has appeared: OLEDs. Although rare for gaming, these peripherals are gradually establishing themselves on the market, pushing IPS, TN and other VAs into the background. The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM is one such monitor.
As is often the case, ROG is looking to diversify its products. The brand does not hesitate to try new things or adopt new technologies. That’s what’s happening here with OLED. Released a few months ago, the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM is one of the best in its class, although it is not without its flaws. Let’s see what he has in his stomach.
A robust and stylish screen
The ROG Swift PG27AQDM is certainly aesthetically remarkable. The brand is known for its futuristic and aggressive designs, and this new monitor takes great advantage of that. It impresses with its three-pronged base, with a distinctive design, where an LED displaying the logo is projected. Strong and stable, a thick central support keeps the screen securely in place. You can shake your desk, nothing will move.
The height and tilt of the screen can be easily adjusted without difficulty. It offers several positions and angles of inclination, offering real freedom of adjustment. It can even be positioned in portrait mode, although that would be a waste given its capabilities. Note also that the screen can be installed on an arm (or a wall) with a Vesa 100×100 mounting kit (provided in the box).
In terms of size, the ROG Swift PG27AQDM measures a little less than 55 cm wide by around thirty centimeters deep, which is within the norm. The 27-inch screen has an imposing presence without being excessively thick, thanks to OLED technology.
On the back, the screen also retains its style. A small design texture on the front, some engravings with the name and logo of the brand, and even a ballet of LEDs to enhance the whole thing. The connections are hidden under the screen block. Here we find a USB hub, a headphone jack, a Display port, and two HDMI 2.0s. We would still have liked 2.1 to be able to take full advantage of the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
A very beautiful rendering, perfect for gaming
In use, the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM quickly proves interesting and even impressive. The visual rendering, in particular, is sublime. As an OLED screen, the blacks seem infinite, the contrasts are very well rendered, and the colors (+98% DCI-P3!) are superb while remaining faithful. The only downside comes from the brightness which is not bright enough in full screen, a characteristic inherent to OLED technology, in particular due to the absence of backlighting. However, it helps to have a perfectly uniform screen from all viewing angles.
Overall, OLED offers a clearly superior visual rendering to LCD, and allows you to take full advantage of HDR, an asset that the PG27AQDM possesses and exploits well. In 1440p resolution (2560×1440 or WQHD) on a 27” panel, the OLED does an exemplary job. Whether on PC or console, the result is superb. Responsiveness is also there with an almost immediate response time of 0.03 ms, ideal for pure gaming. All with the possibility of reaching a maximum refresh rate of 240 Hz. Again, this will appeal to big players. The promises are in any case kept, and the screen also offers many options to personalize your experience.
Almost flawless for the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM!
Thanks to a small stick located under the logo at the bottom of the screen, you can navigate through the monitor’s on-board menu. It is possible to adjust almost all native settings, including variable refresh rate (VRR with AMD F-sync and Nvidia G-sync support), image quality, color spectrum used, different profiles suitable for gaming , as well as the color of the LEDs, the famous Aura RGB from ROG. Note especially the presence of options, such as pixel refreshing, to prevent the appearance of “burn-in”, the famous screen burn which can sometimes affect OLED screens.
This often happens when we display the same fixed elements on the screen, a frequent situation on PC or in game. There is also a profile allowing you to automatically save energy, a very good thing which has somewhat become the standard for years. The consumption indicated by ROG in the technical specifications is around 38W, although in our case it was slightly higher, especially in gaming where it could easily double. We are therefore in the high average in terms of electricity consumption.
Ultimately, the results are more than satisfactory for the Swift OLED PG27AQDM, except for one detail: its price. Although we can now find it for less than €950, its launch price remains dizzying: €1199 recommended price on the manufacturer’s website, which can be a real obstacle. Excellence has a price, now it remains to be seen how high your wallet can go.

The ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM, an essential OLED screen, but expensive
With its superb ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM, Asus offers an excellent gaming screen for PC, but also for consoles, despite the notable absence of the HDMI 2.1 standard to make the most of recent home consoles. But even without that, the screen is well worth the detour. In addition to being quite pretty, it is above all very efficient. Flawless responsiveness (0.03 ms please), up to 240 Hz, and striking visual rendering thanks to its OLED panel which guarantees strikingly true colors and very beautiful contrasts, particularly very deep blacks . The monitor also has a ton of options, some of which will combat the famous screen burn, the OLED disease which, on PC, can quickly happen. It’s just a shame that the Swift OLED PG27AQDM is not affordable for everyone due to its relatively high price.
