Romania says it found drone fragments near its border with Ukraine

BUCHAREST (Reuters) – Romania said it discovered fragments that could have come from a drone on a farm near the Ukrainian border late on Thursday.

“On the evening of March 28, 2024, fragments appearing to come from a drone were identified on agricultural land on the large island of Braila”, located on the Danube and close to the Ukrainian border, said the Ministry of Defense Romanian in a press release.

“The Ministry of Defense as well as specialized agencies of the National Defense System (…) are investigating the incident,” added the ministry.

Similar incidents have already taken place, but NATO and Romania, which is a member, said at the time they had not found evidence that they were deliberate attacks.

Furthermore, Poland took off several of its planes as well as those of allies on Friday after a new round of Russian attacks against Ukraine, the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said on X.

Russia fired 60 drones and 39 missiles at Ukraine overnight from Thursday to Friday, according to the Ukrainian army.
