Round-up National League – ZSC Lions teach SCB a lesson – sports

  • In the Tuesday games of the National League, the ZSC Lions celebrated a clear and prestigious victory at SC Bern.
  • Freiburg beats Biel and takes over the top of the table.
  • Masters Geneva have already suffered their third defeat of the season at HCD.

Bern – ZSC Lions 1:6

Led by Juho Lammikko and Chris Baltisberger (2 goals/1 assist each), the ambitious guests celebrated a convincing success against the actually strong Bernese team. With Lammikkos 3-1 after a break 2.4 seconds before the first siren, a hint of Steve McCarthy even wafted through the Postfinance Arena. Of course, in terms of significance, the Finn’s goal doesn’t come close to the Canadian’s title-winning goal in 2012 (2.5 seconds before the third siren). The Crawford team couldn’t take the butter off their bread. After Denis Hollenstein’s 4-1 (26th minute), SCB keeper Adam Reideborn had to make way for his backup Philip Wüthrich, but last year’s number 1 was also defeated twice before the second break. Bern’s tryout player Joona Luoto, who has been so convincing so far, was only noticed for two small penalties.

Freiburg – Biel 4:1

The nominal top fight of the round (2nd against 4th) was a one-sided affair for long stretches. The Freiburg team ran from the start (at one point the goal-scoring ratio was 15:1). But it wasn’t until the 32nd minute that Christoph Bertschy broke the spell when he tipped a puck that had slipped through Biel keeper Harri Säteri’s pads into the goal. Marcus Sörensen after a 2-on-1 situation, Chris DiDomenico in the power play and finally Andreas Borgman secured the Dubé team a deserved victory.

Davos – Geneva 7:2

The reigning champions from Geneva were defeated for the 3rd time in the last 4 games – although they were in the lead 2-1 thanks to two masterfully combined goals from Valtteri Filppula (15th) and Teemu Hartikainen (22nd). Within 16 minutes, the home team managed to make it 5-2. Leon Bristedt, whose cross pass deflected Geneva’s Josh Jooris into his own goal to make it 2-2, shone with a hat trick.

Ambri – Lausanne 5:4

When Antti Suomela gave the guests a 4-1 lead after 25:30 minutes, everything pointed to the Vaudois’ fifth “threesome” in a row. But the Leventiners managed the miraculous turnaround with new support (Janne Juvonen had to make way for Benjamin Conz between the posts). Ambri’s local hero Inti Pestoni was the big match winner with his power play goal to make it 4:4 in the 45th minute and the winning goal 145 seconds later. Ambri is now only 2 points behind the previous leader, who slipped to third place.

Zug – Lugano 4:2

The EVZ achieved its first victory over the Ticino team since the playoff quarter-finals a year and a half ago. The Zugers set up twice – Dario Allenspach with a shot, Sven Leuenberger with a high corner shot – Lugano reacted twice with powerful slapshots in the power play. The match winner was Lino Martschini, who stood alone in front of the goal (44th). Lugano coach Luca Gianinazzi took his keeper Niklas Schlegel off the ice three minutes before the end in favor of a 6th field player. The guests actually had a chance to equalize, but Andreas Wingerli made everything clear with an empty net (59′).
