No rest in the Tullner roundabout dispute: As reported, a construction site near the Danube bridge causes a lot of traffic jams in the morning and in the evening. A new traffic control system should remedy the situation – but the markings have been a long time coming. The construction site is there anyway until the end of the year.
The busy Langenlebarnerstraße in Tulln is currently a one-way street out of town. The detours for drivers are long, the traffic is concentrated. Crux at rush hour: the “mermaid roundabout” on the old Danube bridge, so to speak, a roundabout with a mermaid. For the town hall ÖVP, the background was quickly found: “The roundabout can do more, it depends on the driving behavior,” said Deputy Mayor Harald Schinnerl of the “NÖN”. But commuter anger followed quickly: “The city is closing one of its most important roads, but are we to blame for the traffic jams ourselves?” Only: A month has passed since the announcement. And the signposting of the bypass and the only temporary driving ban on the alternative route via the Donaulände was not changed, despite a lot of criticism from many residents and companies.
