As expected, Prince William (41) came to the Royal Ascot horse race without his wife Princess Kate (42). He caused touching scenes not only with his parents-in-law Carole (69) and Michael Middleton (74), who were also there.

Prince William and Zara Tindall – loving gestures

William was photographed chatting with the two in the parade ring of the horse race and at one point holding Carole’s hand. The Middletons were first greeted by Zara (43) and Mike Tindall (45) before their son-in-law William joined them before the race.

Cousin Zara put a hand on William’s shoulder while he talked to his mother-in-law. Kate’s mother later also spoke to Princess Beatrice (35) and Princess Eugenie (34), who attended the event with her husband Jack Brooksbank (38).

It was Carole and Michael’s first public appearance since their daughter, the Princess of Wales, announced her cancer diagnosis in March. Since then, Kate has avoided the limelight. She made an exception for King Charles’ (75) birthday parade “Trooping the Colour” last weekend.

Royal Ascot is a family affair

The king, who is also being treated for cancer, visited Royal Ascot on the first day of the event together with his wife Queen Camilla (76).

Also on the first day of the horse race, the family showed their love and support for Lady Gabriella Windsor (43), whose husband Thomas Kingston died at the age of 45 in February.

Lady Gabriella arrived in the carriage with the King’s sister, Princess Anne (73), her son Peter (46) and the royal racing manager John Warren. Upon her arrival at the racecourse, she was greeted with a hug by Anne’s daughter Zara.
