Crown Princess Sofie Louise and Malaysian Crown Prince Dr. Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra announce the birth of their first child.

Royal baby joy! Crown Princess Sofie Louise, 37, and her husband, Malaysian Crown Prince Dr. Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra, 49, have become parents for the first time. The native Swede announced the wonderful news on Tuesday evening, July 18, 2023, with a palace statement on her Instagram account.

The Court’s press release said: “We praise and thank God that Her Highness, the Crown Princess of Kelantan, safely gave birth to her first child on July 17, 2023 (Monday) at University Science Malaysia Hospital (HUSM), Kubang Kerian, Kelantan. Her Highness and the royal baby are both in good health. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess would like to thank all the staff at HUSM who were involved in the birth and all Kelantans who prayed for their well being and the safe birth of their child.”

In mid-March, Crown Princess Sofie Louise made the pregnancy public on Instagram. Now the royal family of Kelantan, a state and sultanate in Malaysia, can look forward to another offspring. For the time being, the palace is keeping the gender of the baby of the crown princess and what it is called.

Sofie Louise and Tengku Muhammad married in 2019

Sofie Louise, who comes from the municipality of Mantorp near the Swedish university town of Linköping, southwest of Stockholm, and the Malaysian crown prince exchanged vows on April 19, 2019. The Crown Princess’ family from Sweden also attended the traditional and lavish ceremony, which took place at the Istana Balai Besar Palace in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

The couple met years ago in London. There moved Sofie Louise Johansson Petra, as she is called by her full name, after graduating from school, initially worked as an au pair to later study English and sociology. Her later great love, Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra, brother of Muhammad V, 53, Sultan of Kelantan and former King of Malaysia, also studied in the British capital. He earned his doctorate in ancient history and says he now works as a pro-canselor at the University of Malaysia.
