Royals in New York: why the aristocratic elite are currently cavorting in the Big Apple

The world looks to New York. The 77th UN General Assembly and the environmental summit “Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit” initiated by Prince William are currently taking place here. Two important events also attended by royals from all over the world.

Although many royal family members have no political influence or even decision-making power, they can still campaign for the issues that are close to their hearts. And they do, committed and full of energy. A look at New York is proof of that. Since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth, †96, the royal elite have been romping around here to fight for a better world.

Queen Rania is committed to Prince William’s heart project

Queen Rania, 50, immediately traveled to the Big Apple after emotional days in the UK to meet former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, 74, and UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi, 65, on September 20, 2022 of the “Clinton Global Initiative” for an open discussion.

In addition, the 50-year-old spoke at the “Concordia Annual Summit” as part of the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations and took part in the “Caring for Women Dinner” of the “Kering Foundation” with her daughter, Princess Iman, 25.

On September 21, Jordan’s Queen gave a presentation at the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit, hosted by Prince William, 40. Due to the period of mourning for his grandmother, the heir to the British throne cannot be there himself at the moment, but he sent the participants an emotional video message and assured his full support.

Princess Mary and Prince Frederik support Denmark’s candidacy for UN Security Council seat

The Danish royal family is also currently cavorting in the metropolis. The reason: Denmark is running for a seat on the UN Security Council in 2025-2026. Prince Frederik, 54, and Princess Mary, 50, have therefore been in New York since Tuesday, September 20, 2022 and are attending events with a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This is how Prince Frederik appeared on the first day at the opening of the UN General Assembly, before he then gave a speech at the “Countdown to 2030” event as patron of the “State of Green” initiative, in which he referred to the natural disasters of our time. “These devastating events threaten our existence around the world,” the Crown Prince warned. The appointment was followed by a meeting with Nordic ministers and Central American ministers.

Prince Frederik had to fly back to Denmark one day earlier than expected on Thursday afternoon, September 22nd. The reason: since his mother, Queen Margrethe, 82, was infected with the corona virus, the crown prince has to prepare the evening party that the court is hosting on September 23 at Christiansborg Palace for the government, parliament and the Danish MEPs. Princess Mary, on the other hand, will come home on Friday as planned.

Queen Letizia meets Jill Biden

Queen Letizia, 50, did not take a break after her trip to London either and immediately flew to New York without her husband Felipe, 54. Here, on September 20, the former journalist attended a UNICEF/WHO event at the 77th United Nations General Assembly and delivered a moving speech on promoting mental wellbeing in schools.

Queen Máxima travels to the Big Apple immediately after Prinsjesdag

Queen Máxima, 51, of the Netherlands is one of the strong royal women who are currently using their voices in the Big Apple. Prince Albert is in New York without Charlène

Prince Albert, 64, also traveled to the USA without his wife Charlène, 44, but with at least as much enthusiasm. Monaco’s head of state delivered a speech during the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly on September 21 at the UN headquarters.

The stay in New York is very important to Albert, as he makes clear on Instagram. “The debates taking place during the General Assembly provide a unique forum for dialogue between member countries and allow the issues covered by the United Nations Charter to be discussed. After two years thwarted by the Covid-19 pandemic , it is the great return of the heads of state and government to the United Nations,” says the official account of the royal family.

The regent also announced that he would meet “several heads of state, some of them in bilateral meetings” during his stay.
