Prince Philip of Serbia: “This picture marks a significant event”

It is a three-generation photo of historic proportions: Crown Prince Alexander poses with his son Hereditary Prince Philip and his children Prince Stefan, 5, and Princess Marija, who was born on November 5, 2023. The now father of two proudly writes: “This picture marks a significant event in the history of the Karađorđević dynasty: three generations in direct lineage, united in one place for the first time. Something that is unique in the history of the Karađorđević dynasty has never existed.”

This week, Crown Prince Alexander visited his son and his family in their home and met little Marija for the first time – “the youngest member of the royal family”.

Crown Prince Alexander and his son get closer: “Ensure continuity of our dynasty”

The visit and the joint photo are to be seen as a sign of rapprochement between the Crown Prince and the Hereditary Prince and are important for Serbia’s continued existence of the House of Karađorđević. Prince Philip is also aware of this, emphasizing: “Such moments remind us of the lasting values that bind us together. […] The essence of the monarchy lies in the continuity and stability secured by our next generations.”

The absence of Crown Prince Alexander in the life of his son and his family should be a thing of the past once and for all. The Hereditary Prince explains:

We agreed that it was important for my father to spend more time with his grandchildren since we all live in Belgrade. This will help him get closer to them and ensure the healthy continuity of our dynasty.

Scandal resignation against the will of Crown Prince Alexander

Prince Peter’s resignation happened in April 2022 against the wishes of his father, Crown Prince Alexander. According to the Serbian newspaper “Politica”, he was missing from the appointment at the Casa de Pilatos city palace in Seville, Spain. The decision was “not carried out in accordance with royal tradition,” the Crown Prince said in a statement afterwards.

Discord with his children

Almost a year later, the new hereditary prince Philip revealed family tensions to “Gloria”. The 41-year-old explained that he and his father had regular contact, but also said: “I always try to point out to him that he needs to listen more to us, to his sons. Children are a priority. I wish my father “I would have recognized this earlier. Then everything would have been different.” Maybe it will now – for the good of the House of Karađorđević.
