Majority is dissatisfied with German Ukraine policy

Ukraine should not receive any weapons from Germany, according to the position of the federal government in the current crisis. Germany is involved as a mediator, but keeps a low profile on possible sanctions. A majority of Germans are dissatisfied with this.
A large majority of Germans are concerned about the conflict between NATO and Russia in the heightened Ukraine crisis. 86 percent are concerned by the current conflict, 37 percent very much, 48 percent at least somewhat. Only a few (13 percent) are not at all worried about the current conflict. The supporters of the Left Party and the AfD are not concerned with an above-average number of times.
Only around a quarter of Germans (26 percent) are satisfied with the way the federal government has dealt with the Ukraine crisis. On the other hand, 63 percent are less or not at all satisfied with the way the federal government is dealing with the conflict. The supporters of the SPD (50 percent) and the Greens (58 percent) are the most satisfied with the actions of the federal government in the Ukraine crisis. On the other hand, only 13 percent of the supporters of the FDP are satisfied with the way the federal government is handling the Ukraine crisis and thus just as few as the supporters of the opposition parties.
For 38 percent of Germans, the situation in Ukraine is the most important problem of the current week. A majority of those surveyed continue to consider the corona pandemic to be the most important issue.
The verdict on the previous work of Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who recently completed her inaugural visits to Ukraine and directly afterwards to Russia, is somewhat better than the opinion on the government’s position in Ukraine. Overall, 36 percent of Germans are satisfied with their previous work in the office, but 51 percent are also less or not at all satisfied with their work. 13 percent do not yet dare to judge. Most of the supporters of their own party (84 percent) and the supporters of the SPD (63 percent) are satisfied with Baerbock’s work to date. In contrast, a majority of the supporters of all other parties – including the FDP – are less or not satisfied with their work.
