RUMOR on Horizon: a remaster or remake of Zero Dawn coming to PS5, a multiplayer game and an extension to Forbidden West in development

In this beginning of generation, Sony Interactive Entertainment capitalizes quite a bit on its strong licenses. God of War Ragnarok is on the way, The Last of Us Part I came back to tell us about the adventures ofEllie and Joelwheras’Horizon Forbidden West entertained us at the beginning of the year. In this regard, the license of Guerrilla Games is the subject of several very interesting rumours, starting with one that will not please the detractors of the “remake” of the game of Naughty Dogsince it would seem that the first adventure ofaloy follows him…

Indeed, as first reported by MP1st, Horizon: Zero Dawn would also be entitled to a remake / remaster on the latest console EIS. Released in 2017 on PS4, it has since been released on PC in 2020, so it is still very recent and perfectly playable on PS5, especially since it received a patch next gen. From what is said, this new version would benefit from an improved lighting system with ambient occlusion, revamped textures and better animations with entirely new character models to stick to those of Forbidden West. One of the other goals would be to include the many accessibility options the suite has and to offer different graphics modes. Some improvements to gameplay more subtle and gaming experience for the user would also be there.

This rumor was further corroborated by Andy Robinson from VGC and Lance Mcdonald, but that’s not all. The other indiscretion of the day from these same sources reports thata multiplayer game in the universe ofHorizon would be in development, this time for PS5 and PC, with potential cooperation and customization related to the different tribes. This orientation would be a desire of Guerrilla since the beginnings of the license, since a co-op mode would have been considered for Zero Dawn originally. With the will of sony to release a dozen titles live-service in the next 4 years, it would not be surprising if this flagship license would undergo this treatment.

Finally, the third “rumor” of the day comes to us fromInsider Gamingwho reported a since-deleted tweet from Lance Reddick (the voice of Zavala in destiny or Albert Wester in the recent series resident Evil) who indicated having worked hard during a session of motion capture dedicated to Horizon Forbidden West. With the game out for months, why would the actor need to reprise his role as Sylens ? This suggests that an extension like The Frozen Wilds would be planned.

With Horizon Call of the Mountain to appear on PSVR 2, fans of the license will obviously have many opportunities to dive back into this post-post-apocalyptic universe in the years to come if all this is confirmed. If you don’t have it in your toy library yet, Horizon Forbidden West is sold €52.19 on Amazon in its PS5 version.
