Running show in Peuerbach – New Year’s Eve spectacle: Bosna, heroes and records

The running highlight in Peuerbach was an event of records. New course record, new record of participants and a new local hero in Kevin Kamenschak.

An hour before the start of the New Year’s Eve run, the streets of Peuerbach were completely parked. Warming up runners buzzed around the town like a swarm of bees, with virtually every resident on their feet. “You meet people you haven’t seen in months, you can toast the New Year and experience an exciting race,” summed up a local, enjoying a Bosna that was offered everywhere in town with beer or mulled wine. Pure folk festival atmosphere, even the VIP area was overflowing. New running hero from Upper Austria The fact that the fan zones, where more than 5,000 spectators were crowded, felt like a football stadium was mainly due to Kevin Kamenschak. The Peuerbach debutant sensationally took third place in a great field, challenged winner Florian Bremm right down to the last meter and thus actually became the successor to the Upper Austrian running hero and six-time triumphant Günther Weidlinger. The course record in the women’s race of the Aces by the Kenyan Edinah Jebitok and a participant record of 1078 were just the cherries on the cake.
