Russia: Navalny confirms he is in a prison in the Arctic

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny confirmed on Tuesday that he had been transferred to a penal colony in Russia’s Arctic region and said he was in good morale.

Alexeï Navalny published a message on the X platform (formerly Twitter) after having disappeared for more than two weeks.

His spokesman said on Monday that he had been located in the IK-3 penal colony in Kharp, in the Yamal-Nenets region, about 1,900 km northeast of Moscow.

The Russian opponent indicated on X that he was able to speak with one of his lawyers.
