Russian bombing destroyed Dnipro airport, Ukrainian authorities say

(Reuters) – The Russian military fired missiles at several infrastructure and buildings on Sunday in the Dnipro and Luhansk regions of central-eastern and eastern Ukraine respectively, Ukrainian authorities said, prompting the destruction of an airport.

The governor of the Dnipro region, Valentin Reznitchenko, indicated that the emergency services went to a site hit by a bombardment in the town of Zvonetsky.

He said a casualty toll would be given later.

On Telegram messaging, Valentin Reznitchenko, also indicated that Dnipro airport had been hit by the bombardments.

“The airport itself was destroyed, as well as nearby infrastructure. And the rockets fly and fly,” said Valentin Reznitchenko.

Earlier in the day, he had indicated that in Dnipro, one person had been injured.

“During the night, high-precision missiles destroyed the base and the headquarters of the nationalist battalion of Dnipro Zvonetsky, which also recently received reinforcements from foreign mercenaries”, declared for his part the Russian Minister of Defence.

In the Kharkiv region, in northeastern Ukraine, the local governor, Oleh Siniehoubov, reported on Facebook two dead and several injured in the town of Derhatchi.

“As you can see, the Russian army continues to ‘fight’ with the civilian population, because it has no victories at the front,” said Oleh Siniehoubov.

In the besieged region of Luhansk, the local governor said a school and a building were hit by shelling.

“Fortunately (there are) no casualties,” wrote Serhiy Gaidai on Telegram messaging.

Reuters could not immediately verify this information.
