Ryan Gosling: before Barbie, he was already singing… in Conjuring!

Remember Conjuring: The Warren Files but not Ryan Gosling in the movie? This is normal since it does not appear on the screen! The first opus of the saga indeed presents a cameo from the star actor of Barbie and La La Land of a completely different genre: rather than playing a role in the horror film, it is his group, Dead Man’s Bones, which appears on the film’s soundtrack.

As Total Film recalls, one of their songs, “In the Room Where You Sleep”, is played during a scene at the beginning of the film in which the duo of paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) reunite with their team to investigate strange happenings on a farm. They were called by the Perron family who suspected paranormal activity in their new home, particularly after the unexplained death of their dog.

Here’s an excerpt, listen carefully…

Ryan Gosling and friend Zach Shields formed the band Dead Man’s Bones in 2007 out of their mutual obsession with the Disney park ride, the Haunted House. Their musical production focuses on ghosts and monsters making it a fitting addition to the horror film soundtrack. Their self-titled album, released in 2009, includes the title in question.

This is not the only time that we have been able to hear the group’s music in a film or series. Their song “Lose Your Soul” was used in the series Teen Wolf in 2011 as well as as theme music for the French film The Battle of Solferino in 2013.

Released in 2013, Conjuring: The Warren Filesgave birth to an entire cinematographic universe over the following decade with its two sequels as well as the spin-off film series Annabelle and The Nun, the second part of which, The Nun: The Curse of Saint Lucia, can currently be seen in your nearest cinema.
