Ryanair boss hits out at Boeing over delivery delays


LONDON (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Boeing must review its delivery schedule and make efforts to relaunch its commercial aviation division, the boss of Ryanair ruled on Monday, complaining about the services offered by the commercial teams of the aeronautical giant American.

During a conference with analysts, Michael O’Leary also questioned the relevance of the change in the headquarters of Boeing, which announced that it wanted to leave Chicago for the suburbs of Washington. The move “may be good for the defense business, but it doesn’t address the fundamental underlying issues of the civil aviation division in Seattle,” the executive said following the release of the company’s quarterly results. Boeing did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

“We are an accommodating customer, but we are facing slow deliveries and an inability to secure a new aircraft deal,” O’Leary said. “You really wonder what their sales team has been up to for two years.”

Some 737 Max aircraft built during the aircraft’s nearly two-year no-fly period are still immobilized waiting to be delivered to their buyers, the manager also pointed out. Boeing did not provide an explanation for the delays, he added.
