Sabine Lisicki is expecting her first child. The professional athlete has now revealed on Instagram what experiences she has had so far and what she has learned from them.

This year will be Sabine Lisicki, 34, mother for the first time. On March 8, the tennis player announced her pregnancy on social media. Since then, she has been providing insights into her new everyday life – and is noticing the first changes. Her mentality as an athlete also seems to help her in this previously unfamiliar situation.

Sabine Lisicki about the physical changes

In a new Instagram video, the 34-year-old admits that she is having difficulty with the “physical changes.” For Lisicki it is important to accept this change. After all, the body does maximum work during pregnancy. “It’s okay to struggle with the changes your body goes through. They’re not easy,” she wrote on the post.

The growing baby bump also seems to affect her job. As the video further reveals, Sabine Lisicki can no longer train as usual, but has to get used to the new condition – and take care of herself and the baby. Something the tennis star apparently struggled with at first. In the social media post, Lisicki reveals that she had to get “a lot of support” from her team “to make this happen.” But she realized that it was okay to adapt the training to the circumstances.

Sabine Lisicki: Hormones made her “despair”

The body doesn’t just change externally. In addition, there is the increased hormone release of HCG [humanes Choriongonadotropin, Anm. d. Red.], as well as estrogen and progesterone. Pregnant women often struggle with mood swings. Every woman experiences this individually. The 34-year-old’s hormones seem to have taken a significant toll. She describes that this could lead to “despair”. But here too, her conclusion is positive: it is okay to reach your limits. Ultimately, these messenger substances take on important roles and maintain the pregnancy.

Fans are thrilled by such honesty. One comment reads: “You can do it Sabine.” An Instagram user raves: “You are a beautiful pregnant woman.”
