(Boursier.com) — Safran Electrical & Power will soon open a new site in Singapore, specializing in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) activities as well as the production of aeronautical electrical equipment.

This announcement was the occasion for the signing of a memorandum of understanding at the Singapore Air Show between Safran Electrical & Power and the Economic Development Board (EDB) of Singapore. This agreement will facilitate the installation of the factory and will consolidate Safran’s presence and growth in Singapore.

The new website of Saffron in Singapore will have an area of 2,800 square meters. It will be located in the Seletar Aerospace Park and will accommodate 50 employees from Safran’s acquisition of the aeronautical electrical systems business of Thales. Dedicated to support, maintenance and production activities for electrical equipment, the factory will officially come into operation once the necessary authorizations for certification have been obtained.

This development follows the acquisition by Safran Electrical & Power, in October 2023, of Thales’ aeronautical electrical systems business, specializing in electrical conversion, power generation and motors for civil and military aeronautics, including installations in France, Singapore and Orlando (United States).

Remember that Safran has been present in Singapore for more than 45 years. Its activities in the country range from commercial aviation to helicopter propulsion, aeronautical equipment and interiors and defense. With the opening of this site, the Group will directly employ nearly 800 people spread across 7 entities and 5 sites in the areas of production, engineering, customer support, maintenance, repair and overhaul.
