Saint-Etienne “Next time it’s not the trees that I’m burning but the police station”

On Sunday May 8, police officers were called for the first time for a trash fire in the Parc de l’Europe, in the La Métare district of Saint-Étienne.

Then, around 8:15 p.m., they were called back for a second outbreak of fire on old abandoned furniture, still in the same area. The fire briefly spread to tree trunks and shrubs. Fortunately, in both cases, the flames are quickly extinguished.

Tumultuous interpellation

Immediately looking for the perpetrator(s), the police spot a young man nearby who is wearing black gloves. They carry out a check, it is a young man of 19 years.

When they ask him to open his satchel, they find several small balls of paper inside. And during the palpation, a lighter is found in one of his pockets.

His arrest is somewhat tumultuous, he tries to headbutt the police officers, and threatens: “Next time it’s not the trees that I’m burning but the police station”.

He was taken into custody for arson, contempt, rebellion and threat of crime.
