Saint Seiya: you will not see season 2 on Netflix!

Crunchyroll has announced the broadcast of a second season for the series “Knights of the Zodiac: SAINT SEIYA”, a remake of the famous Japanese anime, previously broadcast exclusively on Netflix.

It’s been a while since we heard of the Knights of the Zodiac remake, to the point of thinking that the animated series had simply been canceled by Netflix. However, this is not the case, since a season 2 has finally been announced… by Crunchyroll!

The platform specializing in Japanese animation will indeed broadcast during the summer the sequel to Knights of the Zodiac: SAINT SEIYA, recovering the broadcasting rights of the program previously held by Netflix (also co-producer of the first season); renamed Knights of the Zodiac – Battle for Sanctuarythis second season will adapt the very popular story arc of the Golden Knights.

This American-Japanese co-production is therefore the remake of the famous 80s cartoon, itself adapted from the cult manga by Masami Kurumada (available from Kana editions). Due to its graphic style in computer-generated images that does not respect the chara-design of the manga, but also for its many liberties with the plot of the original work, the first season of Knights of the Zodiac: SAINT SEIYA had generated very poor reviews when it aired in 2019 on Netflix.

It therefore seems surprising to see the series make a comeback, but let’s hope that its transfer to Crunchyroll will allow this season 2 to correct the situation, by offering this very popular narrative arc a worthy adaptation.
