Sainte-Soline: “When we demonstrate, we are responsible for what happens there”, judge Darmanin

As accusations multiply against “police violence” during demonstrations against pension reform or water reservoirs such as in Sainte-Soline (Deux-Sèvres), the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, returned Sunday on the controversy around the intervention of relief. “Certain controversies sometimes border on manipulation,” he said.

Relief organized by the prefect

“There was nothing to prove that obviously, in an organized way, the gendarmes were preventing people from going to treat people,” he continued, referring to an investigation by the Figaro.

Guest Sunday of the Grand Rendez-vous d’Europe 1 / CNews / Les Echos this Sunday, he recalled that “when we hold demonstrations, we are responsible for what happens there”. For the Minister of the Interior, it is indeed up to the people who organize the demonstration to provide relief: “That was not the case, and it is therefore the prefect, despite the fact that she forbade the demonstration, which organized the rescue”.

“The attack on a GIGN doctor has not been the subject of any conviction”

“The GIGN doctors went to treat the demonstrators”, affirmed Gérald Darmanin who regretted that we “continue to say anything”. “In addition, I understand very well that people who have their loved one between life and death want to know what was said. I respect him completely and justice will tell.”

He then regretted that the GIGN doctors “were attacked by the thugs”. “This is not the subject of any political condemnation”, asked Darmanin, who wondered: “How can we be so ideological against the police and the gendarmerie, against our institutions, not to distinguish the demonstration against the bedpans and the fact that the GIGN doctor is attacked when he comes to treat someone?
