Google had reserved its Pixel 5a in 2021 for rare markets. Focusing much more on its 6 series, Mountain View offers its smartphones in a mid-range Pixel 6a. It is less expensive, but does not lack interest.
Google’s Pixel 6a doesn’t stand out compared to the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. This smartphone, which constitutes the “affordable” version, convinces with undeniable advantages: good quality screen, more than satisfactory performance and very controlled photo component. It also has the merit of being IP67 certified, borrowing this characteristic from high-end terminals. What’s missing is a little faster charging, higher screen brightness and a more generous refresh rate. But at its launch price, few – if not any smartphone – have managed to do as well to date, with the essential guarantee of ensuring long-term software monitoring.

Alternatively
The Galaxy A34 is a well-finished and efficient smartphone. Its very bright Amoled panel benefits from Samsung’s expertise in this area, and is very pleasant to use. Without reaching records, the SoC selected makes it possible to offer a fluid multitasking experience and play in reasonable conditions. But unlike its big brother (the Galaxy A54), it quickly shows its limits in photos. That said, and despite very solid competition, the general experience still makes it a very recommendable model.
