Salzburg cross-border commuters – party tourists flock to Schladming

Salzburgers celebrate late into the night in Schladming – it was one of the many Corona curiosities last year. Now the party tourists are likely to swarm again with car pools or by train to the Ennstal. The 2G rule also applies in neighboring Styria. Unlike in Salzburg, you don’t have to sit down in the nighttime restaurant, so you can drink and dance.

Due to an early curfew, hundreds of Salzburg residents moved to neighboring Styria last autumn, where celebrations could still take place until 1 a.m. without restrictions. Even now the party tourists are on their way to the Ennstal again. This time another reason drives the night owls to the Green Mark: While in Salzburg’s night gastronomy there is an additional seat requirement in addition to the 2G rule, parties are allowed in Schladming and Co. Compliance with the 2G rules will increase as usual. “The pressure on Schladming is increasing”, predicts the resident mayor Hermann Trinker. Christian Pewny, who as Radstadt’s head quasi forms the last Salzburg bastion in front of the Ennstal, is relaxed about the largely youthful migrations: “We cannot prevent it, there will be this special form of tourism. But I think young people know what is allowed and what is not. They form car pools. At least one person should always stay sober! “
